Design home automation systems with Stabicad

Our cell phone has become smart. You no longer have a smartphone for making calls, but to communicate with the outside world, whether people or devices, through a variety of apps. In combination with Internet and cloud services, apps offer us unprecedented opportunities. Turn the heat on in the car, check that the doors have been closed, using GPS to determine where your car is located, everything is possible.

So it's logical that we also want our buildings to become "smart." From remote control of the heating system, the controlling of music systems to intelligent lighting, which "knows" when I'm home, and where I can control the mood with a swipe on my smartphone. All major brands from Apple and Samsung to Google participate in home automation systems, or as we say in the Netherlands and Belgium: domotica.
To help the E engineer to create innovative designs for installations that optimize the quality of living and life, Stabicad provides the ability to assign home automation information to the installation design.

Home automation in Stabicad

Inserting symbols
First insert the sensors and actors in the plan. These may be the KNX symbols from the Bus system palette or any electrical symbol. The "Add bus properties" function makes it easy to turn any bus symbol into a bus system symbol. You assign the bus type to the symbol: sensor, actor or user.

Fill in data
After that, all the data for the establishment of a bus system can be filled in, such as the functions of the sensors. With the Stabicad coding tool, you easily give the bus symbols a unique address. You can use the default coding or create one yourself.

Manage and monitor
The Managing Bus System function reads the bus system data of all symbols in the plan. Stabicad performs checks to ensure the accuracy of data entered. Does each bus system symbol have an address? Are all addresses unique? Stabicad then provides an overview of all bus lines in the bus system, the use of each bus line and the number of participants on the line. Stabicad gives a warning if the maximum number of lines per range is exceeded, if the number of participants per line is reached, or if the total use of all the participants on one line is too high. These checks can be turned on and off or adjusted in StabiBASE.

Exporting
Export the bus system to connect the sensors and actors together. The exported file shows all sensors and actors with their functions.
